Project Description
This project was exhibited at Future Proofed, the 2015 Visual Communications show at IADT and received the Digtal Design Award at the IDI Graduate Awards 2015.
Beccy* is a brand identity for a near-future company centred on producing customisable organic products. Beccy* gives its customers an easy to use suite of tools to design their own bespoke organic entity – be it plant, fruit, fungi or bacteria. Through combining a vast library of genetic “pieces,” users can build creations that do not exist naturally in the world. These designs are then voted on by the Beccy* community where the most successful are put into production and sold as finished products.
Beccy* seeks to imagine a future where user generated designs can be used to change and shape the natural world around us through advanced genetic science. This project attempts to explore the communication around such a process as well as visualise the outcomes of a future where even nature can be reformed and repurposed as an instrument of design and expression.
